A Leeds man is celebrating after beating off stiff competition from more than a hundred hopefuls to be recognised as `employee of the year’ for the whole of Yorkshire by a major housebuilder.
Peter Booth (25), from the Stourton area of the city, was awarded the title along with a cash prize by Redrow Homes in recognition of his contribution to the business over the past 12 months.
Employed as an assistant design engineer in the company’s Yorkshire division headquarters in Wakefield, Peter has been with Redrow since early 2014 having previously worked in the motor industry.
Over the past two years he has completed a two year BTEC Level 3 course in Civil Engineering at Leeds College of Building and is all set to work towards a HNC in the same subject from September. His day to day work involves providing technical support to Redrow’s range of development sites across Yorkshire.
After being nominated by colleagues, he was chosen by a panel of company directors for regularly going ‘above and beyond’ in his daily duties and going out of his way to help his colleagues.
On winning Peter said: “I am honoured to be chosen for this award. Redrow is a large company full of talented and capable people so it feels special. I am so glad I made the career move into construction. Like most jobs, mine has its challenges but it’s a case of getting on with it and always doing the best you can.”
Warren Thompson, managing director of Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) added: “Our congratulations go to Peter on winning this award. It is well deserved. He is a great member of the team who works to the highest professional standards and gets the job done. He has a positive attitude and always has a smile on his face.”
