North Yorkshire homebuyers can put the wheels in motion for a smooth move to new home at a special bike-themed event near Boston Spa.
On the third and final day of professional cycling’s Tour de Yorkshire (May 3), Redrow will be throwing open the doors to the third of three fully furnished showhomes at its Southbank venture in Newton Kyme.
Redrow is hoping to make the most of the bike mania expected to sweep through the county during the first ever Tour de Yorkshire – a three-day race that will see cyclists including Sir Bradley Wiggins taking part in events between Bridlington and Scarborough, from Selby to York and, on the final day, Wakefield to Leeds. It has been prompted by the success of last year’s Grand Depart of the Tour de France.
Redrow’s launch event will include lots of bike-related fun to celebrate the success of its Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection at The Rectory and the Georgian-influenced Regent Collection of St Andrews Place, which between them make up the popular Southbank venture.
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), said: “With three fully furnished showhomes set to be open for viewing, including a spectacular four-bedroom ‘Fitzroy’ townhouse from our band new Regent Collection, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to saddle up for a special event.
“Among the many community benefits associated with this scheme, which total £4.4m and will see local schools and public transport facilities boosted and roads improved, Redrow is contributing £92,000 to help improve a nearby cycle path. Also, the opening weekend ties in nicely with the Tour de Yorkshire, so all in all, a bike themed celebration is very appropriate.”
Among the activities planned for May 3 is an old fashioned Penny Farthing bicycle on display and a competition for one keen cycling family to win a set of bikes worth £1,000 from Wetherby-based store All Terrain Cycles. A candy cart and ice cream bike will add to the carnival atmosphere and, of course, visitors will be positively encouraged to check out all three of Redrow’s showhomes.
Whether potential customers prefer the Georgian architectural influences of St Andrew’s Place or the Arts & Crafts styling of its neighbour, The Rectory, inside the showhomes they’ll find bright, modern homes with a high quality specification, convivial open plan living spaces and an attention to detail that’s second to none.
Redrow’s development is close to the quaint North Yorkshire village of Newton Kyme and just outside the larger village of Boston Spa, with its shops, post office, pubs, library and monthly farmers’ market.
The nearby towns of Wetherby and Tadcaster offer a full range of amenities, including a good choice of schools, while the cities of Leeds, Harrogate and York are also readily accessible thanks to the proximity of the A1 and A64.
The brand new Fitzroy showhome and the existing York and Henley showhomes will all be open for viewing on Saturday, May 2, but those looking to enjoy the bike-themed activities should come along for the ride on Sunday, May 3 between 12 noon and 4pm.
