The fourth generation family firm produced the novelty cake to celebrate their links with developer Redrow and the new homes at Oaklands on York Road.
The tasty treat was served up to staff and customers at a gathering designed to help new home owners get to know their neighbours.
Already supplying ‘welcome’ cakes for Redrow home owners as a house warming gift, being asked for a novelty creation was the icing on the cake for Clarks.
Nick Clark, a director of Clarks of Easingwold and great-grandson of the original founder Lucy Clark, said: “Redrow’s construction team are regulars in our Long Street bakery and we also supply cakes to their customers on moving in day. When Redrow asked us to make a cake in the shape of the show home we were glad to accept the challenge. It was certainly a test of our technical skills and took twice as long to make than our normal cakes, but was well worth it in the end.”
Nick and his team used photographs of the four-bedroom Middleton show home as a guide to how the sponge cake should look. White icing was used to replicate the rendered finish of the property.
Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), added: “The cake made for us by Clarks captures the character of our designs perfectly and the attention to detail was fantastic. Not only did they include the feature brick work and roof tiles, but even the letterbox and keyhole. It didn’t just look good, it was a tasty treat enjoyed by all.
“Our new homes are also proof that you can have your cake and eat it as they combine the traditional charm of older properties with bright modern interiors. We’ve currently got a choice of three and four-bedroom properties at Oaklands.”
Current prices for a slice of Redrow living are from £259,950 and as well as securing a brand new home with a host of family friendly features, all new residents are welcomed to the development with a box of delicious cakes and a voucher to spend at Clarks of Easingwold.
The showhomes at Oaklands are open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
