Redrow goes the distance in Barton upon Humber

Redrow is helping to give fundraisers a run for their money by stepping forward as one of the sponsors of the Humber Bridge Half Marathon.

The housebuilder is helping to cover the cost of staging the event on June 30.

Runners will tackle a 13 mile course which will start and finish in Hessle, crossing the Humber Bridge on route and travelling through Barton-upon Humber close to Redrow’s Fox’s Fold development.

Located on Tofts Road, Barton, Fox’s Fold offers a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes. Prices compare favourably to those on the opposite side of the bridge and following the reduction in toll fees, Redrow has seen an increase in people moving into the area

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire), commented: “The Humber Bridge Half Marathon has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years and we’re delighted to be able to help. The fact that people are willing and able to run across the bridge to Barton and back shows just how accessible the town is!”

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Hull, who expect around 2,000 runners to take part. More than 400 runners will take part in the family fun run.

Race Director and Rotarian John Curry says: “The Humber Bridge Half Marathon is now in its 14th year and is recognised as one of the biggest road races in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire. Our main beneficiary this year is The Carers Trust, as well as local worthy causes. We’re extremely grateful for Redrow’s support as it’s only thanks to the generosity of our sponsors that we’re able to donate all money raised by runners to charity.”
