Redrow helps retired couple find dream home in Stretton
The arrival of twin grandchildren, copious commutes and an increasing curiosity led one couple to make a move to a brand new home in Stretton, Staffordshire.
With three granddaughters in Stretton to visit, and both of their grown-up children living in the area, two retired grandparents were spending less and less time in their existing home.
After visiting a brand new development from Redrow Homes East Midlands on a whim, Pam and Ian Wilson from Swadlincote stumbled upon the perfect property at the housebuilder’s Knights Keep development in Stretton, and could finally be closer to their family.
Mr and Mrs Wilson moved into our detached four-bedroom Shaftesbury home at Knights Keep in early summer, which is the first new-build property the couple has owned.
Pam comments: “Early retirement, alongside a five-year-old granddaughter in Stretton, the arrival of twin granddaughters and the relocation of our son to the area, all in the space of a few months, gave us the ideal opportunity to make a move closer to our loved ones.
“We came to view new-build properties at Knights Keep purely out of curiosity. Having travelled to and from the area many times a week to be with our granddaughters, we saw a lot of the area and thought it would be a lovely place to live.
“Our own house wasn’t up for sale at the time, but after being bowled over by the development’s ‘wow factor’ and being shown the perfect plot at Knights Keep, we knew that a future in Stretton with Redrow Homes was on the cards.”
Pam and Ian chose The Shaftesbury style of home to move into at Knights Keep. Ian explains: “We had lived in our previous properly, a three-bedroom bungalow in Swadlincote, for 15 years. It was lovely, but was on a third of an acre of land, and the upkeep of the land was becoming too much work. We also didn’t want to have to do any renovations on our next property, so a new-build was the perfect solution.
“The Shaftesbury was definitely the right decision for us – it offers us great living space, a garden we can easily maintain, and a double garage, which I was especially delighted with.”
The Shaftesbury is part of our Heritage Collection, which has proven popular with homebuyers looking for traditional, 1930s charm combined with an interior which exudes contemporary style.
It features four spacious bedrooms and an expansive open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, and a separate lounge of a similar size for time spent relaxing. The Shaftesbury also features all the conveniences and appliances a family could wish for, fitted as standard.
Pam concludes: “We love our house, and are thrilled to be living at Knights Keep; we are close to our children and grandchildren, have a garden that is easy to manage and we are in a place we can well and truly call home. We couldn’t be happier.”
A sought-after development of three and four-bedroom homes, Knights Keep is situated on the edge of picturesque East Staffordshire countryside, and just an hour from the Peak District. The development is perfect for those looking to strike the perfect balance between town and country life, as Burton upon Trent, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Lichfield, and Birmingham are all within easy reach.
