Louisa and James, both 51, started looking for a new home in 2019. Previously the couple had been drawn to properties where there was renovation potential but decided that their fourth property purchase together would be a new build when they started out on their search.
Louisa commented, “We had lived in our previous house in a village outside Brentwood for 12 years and had decided to downsize to a new build. We wanted the convenience of a new home, where everything is finished to a high standard and ready for us to move into.”
The couple looked online initially to get an idea of what new build homes were available in Essex, before visiting three developments in person. They were immediately set on buying with us after seeing the quality of the homes first-hand but could not decide between our Meadow View development in Silver End or The Junipers in Witham.
Louisa continued, “In the end we decided buying in Witham would be better as it’s closer to town and we can walk in to access shops really easily. We bought our four-bedroom Felsted off-plan. We were a bit unsure about reserving off-plan initially having always bought second-hand before. We built a rapport with our sales consultant though and she helped reassure us, we were able to use the interactive floorplan in the sales centre and see samples to get an idea of the colours, tiles and cupboards in the kitchen and utility room. Fortunately, there was also completed Felsted house types at The Junipers so we could see the finished home from the outside.”
Louisa and James moved into their new home at the beginning of the year and has found the customer service at Redrow excellent.
Louisa said, “The after sales at Redrow has been superb, without fail everybody has provided a high level of customer service. You really felt like nothing was too much trouble, and the site manager was able to pop in and look at anything that needed sorting. Everybody that you deal with wants you to have a good experience.”
The couple moved into their home at the beginning of 2020 and within a few months of living there the country went into lockdown.
Louisa commented, “We are very lucky as we have plenty of outdoor space, and it has even given us an opportunity to spend more time in the garden. We planned it out and created new flower beds. The countryside is right on your doorstep in Witham too, we go out walking everyday with our dog and enjoy cycling too. We have had an opportunity over the last couple of months to see the surrounding area and work out the best local routes, walking along the river and the nearby nature reserve is lovely.”
