More fun for Oldham youngsters thanks to Redrow’s community fund

12th October 2021
Redrow - News - Lancashire - Moorside Junior Youth Club Donation

An Oldham youth club can now offer new outdoor games, arts and crafts thanks to a donation from our community fund.

Sholver and Moorside Junior Youth Club recently re-opened following a lengthy closure due to the pandemic and is now welcoming children aged eight to 12 again.

The donation of £322 was provided though our Oldham Community Fund, which has shared a total of £5,000 between good causes that help people and communities in the Oldham area.

Based at the Sholver and Moorside Community Hub, the club provides a safe and secure environment for young people to participate in diversionary activities and make new friends.

Becci Drake, director at Fullcircle nw CIC, which runs the sessions, said: “It’s great to reopen our doors and welcome young people back into the centre. Funding from Redrow has enabled us to enhance our sessions and engage with more young people.

“The summer sessions were well attended, and the extra equipment enabled us to offer more outdoor activities such as swing ball, circus skills, basketball and dodge ball. The team are now working in partnership with Oldham Athletic Community Trust at the centre to offer more physical activities throughout the winter months.”

Sian Pitt, sales director for Lancashire, said: “It’s so important for young people to have a safe place to go where they can spend time with friends and engage in fun activities in the evening. So we were really pleased to have been able to fund new outdoor games equipment as well as arts and crafts activities for the children of Sholver and Moorside through our Oldham Community Fund.”

Our community fund was launched following the opening of the Saddleworth View development, in the Moorside area of Oldham, which is now sold out.
