A primary school in Barrow, Lancashire, is home to a brand-new purpose-built library, thanks to donations from several donors..
The library, at Barrow URC Primary School, took six months to build, and was opened by local children’s author, Andy Slinger and storyteller, Mrs Moore.
Helen Porter, Key Stage 2 lead at Barrow URC Primary School said: “The opening of Barrow URC Primary School Library was an enormous success. Together we have been able to provide the future generations of Barrow with an amazing school library, which will benefit children for years to come.
“Our new library holds over 5,000 books and the room is able to accommodate a full year group for interactive learning, it is a welcome extension to our classrooms. We thank everyone who has made this possible.”
The pupils also helped to raise funds for the library, completing an extreme read challenge on Pendle Hill.
Sian Pitt, sales director for Lancashire, said: “We are thrilled that our donation has helped to build this wonderful library.
“We aim to provide support in our communities where its needed, this new library is a great asset to the school and will provide a reading haven for current and future pupils.”
