Student's at Hackbridge Primary School build on their learning by visiting construction site
Children from Hackbridge Primary School swapped their school uniforms for hard hats and high-vis jackets on Wednesday 29th November to visit the construction of Redrow’s latest development, Millfields, in Hackbridge.
The seven and eight year olds were given a tour of the Millfields Marketing Suite by the Sales Team, and were shown a model of what the development will look like once complete. The children were then taken out onto the development site where they were given the unique chance to experience the behind the scenes action on an active construction site and were given demonstrations of different site works.
The day finished back at the Marketing Suite where each child was given squash and biscuits, and an educational book about construction to take home with them.
Simon Halfhide, Sales Director at Redrow London comments: “Attracting young people into a career in construction is one of the biggest challenges that the house-building industry is currently facing. Despite the fact that the UK needs to recruit 400,000 people each and every year into the construction industry by 2021 , not enough children are taught about a career in construction and the various opportunities that exist within the sector.
“Redrow has a strong history of working with young people and providing them with hands on experience. We believe providing real-life experience is the best way engage with the next generation of workers, and inspire them to consider a career in construction.
“We would like to thank the children at Hackbridge Primary school for coming along to the site, and look forward to building on our relationship with the school in the future, along with the rest of the local community.”
Once complete, Redrow’s new development will comprise a mix of two-bedroom luxury apartments, and two and three-bedroom houses. Nestled in the tranquil neighbourhood of Hackbridge the homes are surrounded by green space, and near to the beautiful Wandle Valley.
The homes have been very popular with families looking for space to grow, with over 80% of all interest coming from families within a close proximity, attracted to the better value that Zone 4 offers and the opportunity to move up the property ladder as result. With plenty of excellent schools and nurseries just a short walk away, the homes are ideal for families and future parents who are looking for a real sense of community.
Prices for a two-bedroom home start at £470,000, and three-bedroom houses are available from £515,000. The new three-storey, three-bedroom show home is launching in spring 2018.
