Pupils visit construction site to learn about the regeneration of the area
Children from Hackbridge Primary School swapped the classroom for a building site to visit the construction of Redrow’s Millfields development, our latest site in Hackbridge.
90 seven and eight-year-olds started the day with a tour of the Millfields marketing suite by the sales team, followed by a demonstration of the 3D active display, which provides buyers with an overview of the site and a talk about how the sales team help buyers chose their new home. Next, the children put on hard hats and high-vis jackets and were taken out to the site where they were given the unique chance to experience the behind-the-scenes action on an active construction site.

The trip on June 11 concluded at the marketing suite where each child was given a colouring book and stationery as a keepsake from their day on site.
James Holmear, Sales Director at our London division said: “Hackbridge is currently going through a period of change and our new development is at the forefront of the transformation, so it is brilliant to have the opportunity to educate local school children about what is going on around them.
“At the same time, the UK faces losing thousands of EU workers as a result of Brexit in the next couple of years, and it is now more important than ever that we educate young people about the variety of careers that are available within the construction industry. Key to this is getting young people on to a working site so they can gain first-hand experience.
“We are thrilled to have welcomed pupils at Hackbridge Primary School to the site for the second time, and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”
A spokesperson from Hackbridge Primary School added: “The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were asking lots of questions about the jobs people were doing at the building site. Many children live locally and it was a great way for them to learn, first hand, how and why their local area is changing.”

The new family homes are being built as part of the second phase of our successful Millfields development. The three-storey, three-bedroom houses are nestled within the tranquil neighbourhood of Hackbridge, with surrounding green space, in close proximity to the beautiful Wandle Valley Regional Park in South West London as well as Mitcham Junction train station. The neighbourhood is perfect for families and young professionals looking for a suburban setting combined with an easy commute.
All of the homes at Millfields have been designed to meet the demands of modern day family living, complete with fully fitted kitchens and a full range of integrated appliances. The houses are all generously sized with ample space for the whole family with a large open-plan kitchen and dining area and a separate lounge. Each home also benefits from at least one parking space.
Prices for the new homes start at £580,000 and all homes fall under London Help to Buy. To find out more information about our Millfields development visit www.millfields.london
