Proud Matt says 'Excellence' award is excellent news
A competitive streak and attention to detail have helped Redrow project manager Matt Knight scoop his seventh ‘Seal of Excellence’ in the construction industry’s premier award scheme.
Matt, who oversees more than 50 construction workers at Oakwood Grange in Great Wyrley, has won a coveted Seal of Excellence in the National House Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job Awards.
Already the recipient of 11 ‘Quality’ awards in the first tier of this competition, the latest accolade moves him up another level and once again puts him in the top 1% of 13,000 site manager the UK.
Matt, 45, from Burton upon Trent said: “I was elated to win a lucky seventh ‘Seal’. It really is excellent news for everyone working on site as it recognises the hard work and effort we’ve all put in.”
Matt has worked in housebuilding for 29 years, and has been with Redrow for the last 13. He began his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner, progressing through the ranks to his current post as project manager.
“I am competitive and have an ethos of doing the best job I can, which I’ve passed on to the team. I pay attention to detail and get a real buzz out of seeing a job well done,” Matt added.
Pride in the Job is the house-building industry’s most prestigious awards programme. Running for 32 years, it continues to recognise the UK’s best site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site.
Judging includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of the site. Each site manager is assessed across 38 areas of site management including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
Darren Turk, regional director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Over the past year Matt and his team have completed some 40 new homes at Oakwood Grange, investing the same commitment to quality in each property. The award should fill our customers with confidence as they have the reassurance that the construction of their home was overseen by one of the top site managers in the country.”
Matt and his team continue to build at Oakwood Grange, where the choice of homes currently available includes three and four-bedroom homes from the sought-after Heritage Collection. Prices start from £176,995.
