Homebuyers in Hardingstone have done their homework learning that Help to Buy can make a new home easier to afford.
The equity loan scheme has played a significant part in the success of Scholars Place, where two thirds of the homes have been snapped up in just six months.
Now with only a dozen properties remaining, developer Redrow is urging buyers to act fast to avoid disappointment.
“We knew from our database of people who had registered their interest in Scholars Place that there was a demand for homes in the area, but the popularity of the properties is nothing short of phenomenal,” says Helen McGill, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (South Midlands).
“The majority of the customers who have bought a home here have used Help to Buy, recognising that the offer of an equity loan for up to 20% of the price is a great way to make their money go further. Other buyers are using Mastermove to sell the home they want to move from and we have several ‘early bird’ buyers waiting in the wings for their preferred property to be released for sale; they will be given first refusal on their preferred plots. We even have people waiting in the wings for homes that have already been reserved – just in case they cancel!
“All of these factors appear to be good indicators that the housing market is in recovery and we would urge anyone who wants to buy one of our final 12 homes to get in touch without delay.”
Among the homes available at Scholars Place, is a three-bedroom semi-detached Letchworth, similar to one of the showhomes. It’s priced from £234,950 or an initial outlay of only £187,960 with Help to Buy. The remaining 20% share is covered by the equity loan, which is interest free for five years.
On the ground floor of the Letchworth there’s a separate lounge to the front, an open plan kitchen and dining room with French doors opening onto the rear garden, plus a laundry and downstairs cloaks.
A curved staircase leads to the first floor, where the master bedroom benefits from an en-suite while the remaining two bedrooms share the family bathroom.
Located in Newport Pagnell Road, on the southern edge of Northampton, Scholars Place enjoys a beautiful setting in an area well served by local schools. Easy access to the M1 and the M6 makes the homes equally well suited to commuting to London or Birmingham.
