Redrow project manager Matt Knight has added an 11th ‘Quality’ award to his tool belt of accolades.
It’s the fourth year in a row that Matt, 45, who oversees construction work at Oakwood Grange in Great Wyrley, has earned a Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Award from the National House Building Council.
He’s also hoping to emulate last year’s success when he was subsequently named regional winner overall for the West in the large builder category
Matt says: “I take pride in my work and consistently strive for high standards, which is borne out in the awards success I’ve had. This is my fourth ‘Quality’ award in a row and it’s testament not only to the effort I’ve put in, but the work of everyone at Oakwood Grange. The whole team should be proud of this achievement. Hopefully we will be able to retain the regional title.”
Matt, from Burton upon Trent, has worked in housebuilding for 29 years, and has been with Redrow for the last 13. He began his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner, progressing through the ranks to his current post as project manager.
He is one of 12 Redrow site managers commended by industry professionals for the outstanding level of work on their developments.
They are among just 3% of site managers, out of 13,000 in the UK, to pick up a National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ award this year.
They will now compete with the other shortlisted candidates for the prestigious ‘Seal of Excellence’ awards, which are reserved for only the top 1% and announced in the autumn. Those Seal of Excellence winners will compete for the regional title won by Matt last year.
Pride in the Job is the house-building industry's most prestigious awards programme. Running for 32 years, it continues to recognise the UK's best site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site.
Judging includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of the site. Each site manager is assessed across 38 areas of site management including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
Matthew Pratt, managing director of Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “To be recognised in the top 3% of your sector is an exceptional achievement. This award is testament to the pride Redrow takes in building homes to the highest quality standards. Our customers also appreciate the level of craftsmanship that goes into every one of our homes and earlier in the year once again awarded us five stars in the industry's annual customer satisfaction survey.”
