Downsizers' delight with new home in Barton Seagrave
Empty nesters Sally and Martin Bedwell have only just moved home, but they’re so happy that if they were to move tomorrow they’d buy from Redrow again.
The couple decided that as their children have flown the nest and with Martin soon to retire it was time to downsize from their four-bedroom detached home in Northampton.
Sally recalls: “We were looking for a new build because all of our married life we have bought older houses to do up and this time we wanted something that was brand new, ours from the beginning and low maintenance.
“We started looking two years before we moved and were so impressed by the quality of the Redrow homes that we put our house on the market and went into rented accommodation so that when our new home became available we were ready to move.”
The couple recently moved into a three-bedroom detached Warwick at Castle Fields, part of the wider Barton Park scheme, in Barton Seagrave
“We fell in love with the Warwick because of the size. These days a lot of three-bedroom homes have two double bedrooms and a single, but this has enough space for three double beds,” Sally explains.
“We looked at other new developments but Caste Fields really stood out as there’s lots of open space, including a lake, plus the homes don’t seem to be on top of each other. Some new builds we looked at were very samey and box like, but Redrow’s Heritage Collection has lots of character.”
The Bedwells used an innovative feature of the Redrow website to customise their new home.
“We had great fun using the ‘My Redrow’ feature- it was like shopping online with the advantage of being able to go into the sales office to check the colours,” Sally says.
“It was great because we could change our minds and go back to the beginning, start again and then submit our choices. It’s much better than buying an older property as it meant we could walk straight in and everything was what we had chosen from day one. Every other house we bought was older and had to be done up. We didn’t want that hassle this time.”
Sally describes the customer service from the Redrow team as brilliant.
“We’ve recommended Redrow to other people purely because of the help that the staff have given us from the first time we visted the show home to after we moved in,” she says.
“We hadn’t experienced buying a new build home before, but if we moved again we’d buy from Redrow because it’s been such an easy experience.”
Having moved from an older property, Martin, an engineer, and Sally, a sales assistant, are feeling the benefit of living in an energy efficient new home.
“It’s really warm and cosy. We haven’t lived here long enough to notice a difference in our energy bills, but because it’s well insulated and we have solar panels we expect it will be a lot cheaper to run,” Sally adds.
Castle Fields offers a good choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes, with prices from £154,995.
