When their digger mad son Oscar wanted to watch new homes being built in Shifnal, parents Emma Villau and Lee Bedder didn’t realise it would lead to them buying their dream home.
Emma and Lee had a three-year plan to save for a deposit so that they could move out of their three-bedroom rental property and into a home of their own. But a whirlwind romance with the Letchworth from Redrow’s Heritage Collection brought their plans forward.
“Oscar is obsessed with diggers and so when we saw signs advertising the homes at Aston Fields we took him along to see them in action. The Letchworth showhome was starting to take shape and we fell in love with it straight away,” Emma explains.
“We had a three-year financial plan but because of how much I loved this house and Shifnal being such a desirable area we decided to buy sooner rather than later with some help from our parents.”
Emma and Lee were so eager that they visited another Redrow development, Tudor Gardens in Atherstone, to view a house similar to the one they went on to buy at Aston Fields.
“On the day Aston Fields opened we arrived at 10am and by 1pm we’d reserved. It was a bit of whirl wind. I love everything about the Letchworth and couldn’t not have it,” Emma adds.
“When we reserved we handed in our notice on the rental property and moved in with our parents for a few months, which enabled us to boost our savings for the deposit.”
Buying early in the build process enabled project manager Lee and customer experience manager Emma to choose the finishing touches of everything from the kitchen cupboards to the bathroom tiles.
“We were really impressed by the standard choices without having to pay for upgrades, especially compared with what other developers offered,” Emma says.
Having initially been drawn to Redrow because of the company’s reputation as a quality homebuilder, Emma and Lee have been impressed with the overall buying experience and say they’d recommend Redrow to other buyers.
“Carol the sales consultant has been fantastic from the day we reserved right the way through. The site team have been excellent too – nothing’s too much trouble. The care and attention to detail they’ve shown has made buying our home a really pleasant experience,” Emma explains.
Just a few months after moving they’ve already found that their new home has made a positive impact on their family.
“The rental property had receptions rooms that were separate from the kitchen, but in our new home we have an open plan kitchen and dining room which enables us to have more family time,” Emma adds.
“We’ve also noticed how warm it feels compared to our old home. We’ve had to turn the heating down.”
Current availability at Aston Fields includes four-bedroom properties in a choice of styles, priced from £237,995.
