A film premier-style event marked the official launch of a chic new housing collection helping to meet demand for new homes in Shropshire.
In the brand’s signature colour, the pink carpet was rolled out for VIP guests in Leegomery ahead of an exclusive ‘showing’ of the contemporary designs from Abode by Redrow.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by the Mayor of Telford & Wrekin, Cllr Malcolm Smith, who officially opened the showhome before visitors were given their first look inside the properties.
Sales director Pauline Turnbull says: “It’s well documented that as a nation we need more homes to be built. At Redrow we’re doing our part to address the housing shortage by stepping up production generally; and the Abode range gives us the opportunity to open more sites, more quickly.
“Abode brings chic urban styling out of the city to desirable locations like Leegomery. As this is the very first Abode venture in England we wanted to celebrate in style, giving the homes top billing with a film premiere themed event for property professionals. It’s a great way to introduce this exciting new collection of homes.”
The Abode homes, which present an ‘uncluttered’ but smart façade, feature wide open living spaces – virtually all of the ground floor is open plan – and in-vogue features such as wet rooms and underfloor heating. In several housetypes there is no family bathroom, instead every bedroom has its own wet room or en-suite. Banks of discreet storage units create faux walls and optional extras include outdoor kitchens and low maintenance artificial turf.
Speaking at the launch Telford & Wrekin Mayor, Cllr Malcolm Smith said: “I am very impressed with the houses I’ve seen today; they are fantastic and, even more important, they are fantastic value when you consider the fixtures and fittings that are included. I have no hesitation in saying to people come and view them and hopefully they will be as impressed as I am.”
Abode Leegomery will comprise 39 new homes in a choice of two and three-bedroom designs with smart, uncluttered facades. The largest of the properties will span 1,389 square feet but, with almost totally open plan ground floor layouts in all of the homes, the emphasis is very much on space, light and flow of energy.
Current prices range from £189,995 for a three-bedroom end terrace with two parking spaces to £224,995 for a three-bed detached home with single garage.
All of the properties are available with the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which allows home owners to purchase with a 5% deposit and 75% loan to value mortgage. The balance is covered by a 20% equity loan, which is interest free for five years.
Featuring highly specified, largely open plan living spaces and in-vogue features such as underfloor heating and wet rooms, Abode homes places an emphasis on the feeling of space and light. The first Abode development opened in January 2014 in Flintshire and the designs will soon be available in many more locations across England and Wales.
Including a choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes, Abode has been launched to meet demand for modern, high spec and streamlined properties from homebuyers searching for a contemporary lifestyle without moving to the city.
The launch of Abode coincided with Redrow entering its 40th anniversary year and proves that the developer is still at the forefront of innovation and design after many years as one of the UK’s leading housebuilders. For more information visit www.redrow.co.uk/abode.
