Choosing a new home in Countesthorpe is child's play
Close to their children’s school, with plenty of space and no DIY required, a new Redrow home in Countesthorpe ticked all the right boxes for Jonathan and Zoe Gilbert.
With two young boys, Samuel, nine and Alfie, six, the couple didn’t want to worry about repairs or renovations and so it had to be new when they were ready to move.
They involved both of the boys throughout the buying process with Samuel in particular showing a keen interest. Since moving in he’s written letters to the sales team, copied the work being carried out on site with his toys and even shared homemade bread with Redrow staff.
Jonathan explained: “We wanted to move because we wanted to be nearer school so that we could walk rather than having to take the children in the car. With the boys getting bigger we also wanted a bigger house.
“We didn’t want the children to be disrupted by the move and tried to involve them as much possible. Because it’s close to their school we would come by to see the progress and they’ve seen it change from a patch of land right the way through to their new home.”
The Gilberts’ three-bedroom semi-detached Letchworth gives them the extra space they wanted.
“I’m quite particular and don’t like the idea of living in an older house as you don’t know what the previous owner may have done to it or if there are any hidden problems. We’d bought our previous property as a new build and sold that within seven days,” Jonathan added.
Before choosing a home from Redrow’s Heritage Collection Jonathan, 40 who is a team leader for Dunelm, and 42-year-old NHS worker Zoe, looked at various developments.
“We liked the traditional look of the Heritage Collection homes,” Jonathan said.
“The layout works for us because there’s a separate lounge and a big kitchen with enough space for a table for when we have visitors.”
Current availability at Thorpe Meadows includes four and five-bedroom properties priced from £258,950 to £499,950.
Tonia Tyler, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Our core business is building family homes and it’s great to see even the youngest family members taking an interest when it comes to finding a new home. The fact that Samuel’s so happy with his new home that he decided to write a letter to the sales team demonstrates why we have won five consecutive five star awards for customer satisfaction and his letter has pride of place in the sales office.”
