A commitment to quality has earned a site manager based in Northamptonshire a 10th top industry award.
Martin Fairbrother, who oversees construction of new homes at River View in Barton Seagrave, is one of 18 Redrow employees to receive Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Awards from the NHBC (National House Building Council) this year. Around 15,000 site managers undergo the judging process with just 450 winners selected.
While it’s a record number of wins for Redrow, there’s extra cause for Martin to celebrate as it’s his 10th NHBC award in 20 years as a site manager. During his career he’s also scooped two regional in-house awards with previous employers who ranked him third nationally.
“I started out as an apprentice carpenter, was self-employed for a while before taking a job as an assistant site manager and then site manager,” Martin, who lives in Northants says.
“It’s a good feeling knowing that you have achieved the standard required by the NHBC for the awards and everyone on site is pleased as it’s a real team effort. The award will also give customers comfort as to the quality of their home.”
Judging for the Pride in the Job Awards begins a year before the announcement of the first round of winners. It includes spot checks on the day-to-day running of their site, plus assessment across 38 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
Only site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site and in the homes they build are considered for a Pride in the Job Award.
Martin and the other ‘Quality’ Award winners will now have to wait until the autumn to discover if they’ve made it into the top 130 site managers to secure the coveted ‘Seal of Excellence’.
“The team on site are all really motivated and want to get to the top now,” Martin adds.
Homes being built by Martin and the team in Barton Seagrave include four and five-bedroom properties from the sought-after Heritage Collection.
Buyers can appreciate the quality and finish of the properties with a visit to the showhomes, open daily 10am to 5.30pm. For more information call 01536 618518 or see www.redrow.co.uk/river.
