Children from a Rowley Regis primary school were in a spin when a helicopter used their playing field as a landing pad.
The flying visit to Rowley Hall Primary School and Rowley Owls Nursery came about as Redrow Homes’ founder and chairman Steve Morgan, who until recently also owned Wolves FC, toured Redrow developments across the Midlands.
The school is close to the housebuilder’s new Rowley Grange development of three and four-bedroom family homes and proved to be the ideal place to land a helicopter during the visit.
Head teacher Nicola Stanley said: “The children were so excited – the whole school came outside to see the helicopter. The pilot was brilliant and let them look around and answered all of their questions, including letting one pupil into the cockpit and giving a partially sighted pupil a more detailed explanation. Everyone was thrilled to be able to get so close and feel the grass moving with the wind when it landed and took off.
“The Wolves fans among them – including staff – were keen to get Steve Morgan’s autograph!”
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), added: “We’re grateful to Rowley Hall Primary School and Rowley Owls Nursery for allowing us to land the helicopter in their grounds. We certainly received a warm welcome from the children, who were keen to learn all about the helicopter.”
Sales of new homes at Rowley Grange are flying high with 16 properties sold to date. Those wanting to land a new home can visit the development on Throne Road, where three and four-bedroom properties are available, currently priced from £199,995.
