Aspiring homeowners in Tamworth will be offered a priority place on the property ladder as part of a new affordable homes scheme.
Subject to strict criteria buyers will be offered the chance to purchase an apartment at Redrow’s Pennine Grange development on Pennine Way at a discounted price.
With only 28 apartments available under the scheme and priority being given to locals, Redrow is advising would-be home owners not to miss out on the chance to secure a brand new home at an especially affordable price.
The criteria for the scheme has been set by the local authority to ensure that those most in need of assistance have the chance to secure a new home for less.
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Research by the CEBR suggests that two fifths of tenants don’t think they’ll ever be able to afford a home of their own, but we’re offering first time buyers in Tamworth a deal they won’t be able to afford to miss.
“Working with Tamworth Borough Council we’ll be giving local people the chance to buy a home of their own at a discounted rate to the market value. There’s strict criteria for the scheme, but our friendly experienced sales team will have a tick list to check buyers are eligible. Anyone wanting to be sure of benefitting should register their interest as soon as possible.”
The initiative will enable eligible purchasers to secure a one or two-bedroom apartment for just 85% of the market value.
For example, a one-bedroom apartment usually costing £110,000 can be purchased from £93,500; while the scheme reduces the cost of a two-bedroom apartment from £130,000 to just £110,500.
“We’re anticipating high demand for the apartments and would encourage anyone hoping to purchase a home at the heavily discounted rate to act fast,” Pauline added.
