Claire Walters was only visiting her friend and hairdresser Rachael Stallard in Wolverhampton, for a cut and blow dry, but after hearing about her new home Claire decided to move there herself!
“We had umm-ed and ahh-ed about moving house but weren’t really thinking about moving when Rachael told me about her new Redrow home at Compton Parl. I drove into the development and fell completely in love with it,” laughed Claire, 42.
“It was the situation, the landscaping and the homes themselves – they’re beautiful.
Then when my husband David and I visited the show home it just blew us away.”
Claire and David, 46, who owns his own double glazing company, have bought a five-bedroom Highgrove in the same style as the show home for themselves and children, Harvey, eight, and Amber-Rose, five.
A masterpiece of modern architecture the Highgrove, like other properties on the exclusive Wolverhampton development, is from Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection which captures the craftsmanship of traditional building work, while enjoying the best in modern interior design.
The heart of the home is a spacious kitchen, dining area and family room, complemented by a separate more formal lounge, plus dining room and study. Upstairs is an impressive galleried landing leading to five double bedrooms, four of which boast en-suites leaving the beautiful family bathroom to serve the remaining bedroom. And all of the fixtures, fittings and appliances are of the highest standard.
Claire, who is secretary of the family business, D W Windows, said: “We love the double frontage, the large hallway, and, simply, the space of the Highgrove. I really like the idea of the living area at the back of the house being the hub of the family home, with the dedicated dining room for more formal occasions and the separate lounge for me and David – a ‘no go’ area for children.
“We’re currently in a five-bedroom home but that’s with a converted loft and it isn’t nearly as big as the Highgrove. This house has lovely high ceilings, deep skirting boards and beautiful woodwork. And the under-floor heating is amazing.
“Of course, one of the first things David looked at was the windows, which are of the same profile as those we fit so we’re very happy with those. They’re beautiful and very energy efficient, keeping the warm air in and the cold out!”
The couple have sold their existing property and hope to move into their new home in Compton Park in the summer: “We can’t wait,” smiled Claire. “We’re going to put all our existing furniture into the back of the house and re-furnish the lounge and dining room. It’s really exciting. I’ve got a blank canvas and I’ve already been out shopping for ideas.
“It is time for a change and we love Compton Park. We’ll be in a cul-de-sac so the children can play, it’s close to my son Harvey’s school and my friend lives just over the road and has a daughter the same age as Amber-Rose. It ticks every box.”
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Originally Compton Park was to offer 55 executive family homes, but due to demand we acquired an additional parcel of land for a further phase of 14 homes.
“Like Claire and David people fall in love with this development. With its superb central location, handy amenities and great transport links it’s easy to see why. But not only that, it is surrounded by a stunning nature reserve to offer a peaceful and relaxing environment. What’s not to love about it?”
Compton Park offers a range of four and five-bedroom homes, with current prices from £409,995.
The show home and sales office at Compton Park are open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information call 01902 238 330 or see www.redrow.co.uk/compton.
