New homes being built in Shrewsbury will bring community investment worth more than £1.5 million to the town.
The boost comes as a result of Redrow’s new Lime Tree Meadows development on Ellesmere Road.
The award-winning homebuilder has planning permission to build 75 homes on the land and has committed to invest in the neighbourhood.
Redrow will finance the construction of affordable homes at a cost of £700,000 and will also pay a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) of £458,000. The CIL will be paid to the local authority who can use it to fund a wide range of infrastructure, including transport, schools, hospitals, and other health and social care facilities.
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “Lime Tree Meadows will offer 67 private sale properties, which potential purchasers are already showing a keen interest in.
“While our core business is building new homes – which is also helping to address the housing shortage - we’re also keen to ensure that our developments are sustainable and will invest more than £1.5 million in the local community. We’ll be providing affordable homes as part of the scheme, and will pay more than £450,000 to the local authority to fund improvements to the local infrastructure.
“Plus, because we’re building family homes we will contribute £104,000 to education and pay £225,000 towards creating and maintaining public open space with play areas.”
Lime Tree Meadows will feature designs from Redrow’s sought-after Heritage Collection, combining Arts & Crafts inspired architecture with high specification modern interiors.
The first properties are due to be released ‘off-plan’ in May, with fully furnished show homes available to view soon after.
Prices for the three, four and five-bedroom homes will be announced at the launch.
Prospective purchasers can register their interest now via the website www.redrow.co.uk/lime or by calling 01743384259.
