STAFFORD Rugby Union Football Club’s Under 14 team is ready to tackle the season ahead thanks to sponsors Redrow Homes.
The award-winning housebuilder offered home town support to the club, which is just a few miles from its Church View and Priory Fields developments in the town.
The under 14s play under the RFU’s Kids First programme, which promotes positive encouragement of the game. With funding from Redrow the players are sporting subs’ jackets and training tops as they train and play across Staffordshire.
Stafford RUFC Under 14s administrator Kath Jones explained: “Redrow stepped in last year and enabled us to purchase padded subs’ jackets. We were lucky to receive further Redrow funding this year, which along with other sponsors and parental contributions, has paid for training tops. Before the children were wearing bibs, but now they all have the same kit they look more of a team and it’s helped boost morale. Plus, because they’re reversible we can have two teams train and play against each other in different coloured kits. It’s made a huge difference to the team.”
Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), added: “Sports clubs like Stafford RUFC help foster a sense of community and make the area a great place to live. We’re keen to support sports clubs at grassroots level and were happy to team up with the club to help them encourage young people to stay fit and active.”
