Birmingham Children’s Hospital is a cause that’s close to home for Midlands staff of Redrow Homes and over the last three years they’ve raised almost £45,000 for the charity.
The latest instalment of £6,250 brings the total donated by Redrow’s Tamworth-based Midlands business to £44,907.25.
Regional director Graham Micklewright said: “Birmingham Children’s Hospital does a fantastic job of caring for children from across the region, including children with links to the Redrow Midlands team. The fundraising we’ve carried out and the donations we’ve made over the last three years is our way of repaying the hospital for the care and compassion they show children all year round.”
The money was raised through a variety of activities and included a pack of Redrow runners taking on the Winter Wolf Run, charity auctions, raffles, dress down days and a contribution from Redrow.
Birmingham Children’s Hospital has one of the busiest children’s heart centres in the UK and the latest donation from Redrow will support its work. On average the Cardiac Unit sees over 600 patients every year and performs a similar number of operations. Around 50% of these are on children under the age of one, making it the largest UK centre for baby heart surgery.
Kirsty White, corporate partnerships officer at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We are absolutely blown away by Redrow’s latest fundraising total and would like to say a massive thank you to the team for raising such an incredible amount over the last three years.
“The money they have raised will make a massive difference to the lives of our brave patients, and their equally brave families, all across our hospital, including those treated on our Cardiac Unit.”
