Couple Keep Calm and Right Size to a New Redrow Home
Laura and Dean Soer had been living in a large house in Greenhill but decided the time was right to move to somewhere that better suited their needs, as Laura explains.
“All of our children had left home and so we wanted to scale down to a smaller house,” Laura recalls. “We’d seen Laburnum Gardens, the previous Redrow development in Evesham and liked that the houses looked old despite being brand new. We thought they were beautiful and wanted something like that ourselves but by that point they’d all been sold.”
They looked at other new builds in the surrounding area, but felt that they were ‘square and boxy’.
Luckily, they discovered Redrow had another development just a few miles away.
Speaking from the comfort of their new home, Laura says: “The Leamington is a large three-bedroom detached home with an open plan layout. It looks like our original house but with about half of it missing because it was double fronted.”
She laughs: “One of my favourite features is the walk-in wardrobe – it’s like the house has had a woman’s touch. The master bedroom also has an en-suite and there aren’t too many bedrooms to clean.”
Location also played a part in their choice of home.
“There’s a big maple tree opposite and lots of greenery. We were the first to move in and the only people living here for the first six weeks, which was quite eerie at night,” Laura says. “It’s nice seeing the new neighbourhood growing around us as more people move in.”
The couple, Laura, 52, a national account manager, and IT support manager Dean, 57, have owned both old and new homes previously and rate their Redrow experience highly.
“The sales team were really good and went over everything with us, putting us in touch with a great solicitor. The customer service was superb and made sure that everything flowed and was straight forward. It was the calmest house move I’ve ever had, even though I was away with work a week before we moved. It was an excellent experience,” Laura explains
“While the house was being built we came to see the site manager and were allowed to view the property with hard hats on. We were also showed how everything works including the locks, alarms and heating. It’s much nicer moving into a new build than an older property.”
Current availability at Maple Gardens includes three and five-bedroom detached homes priced from £324,995.
A Leamington, similar to the Soers’ is available from £359,995.
To the ground floor, the open plan kitchen and dining room is complemented by a separate lounge, plus utility and convenient cloakroom.
Up on the first floor all three bedrooms are doubles, with the master bedroom boasting both a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite with an extra wide shower to complement the family bathroom.
Show homes at the development, on Offenham Road, are open Thursday to Monday from 9am to 4.30pm. For more information call 01386 306202 or see www.redrow.co.uk/maplegardens.
