Experience and pride in a job well done has earned Redrow site manager Paul Ireland a Pride in the Job ‘Quality’ Award.
Paul was among a record number of Redrow employees to receive the prestigious industry award from the NHBC (National House Building Council) for his work as site manager at The Coppice, Leegomery.
Paul, who’s a long-serving site manager, is humble about his achievement.
“I was so surprised that I thought it was a joke at first,” he laughs. “I always do my best to deliver good quality homes. My mantra is ‘that will do, won’t do’. I’m proud of my work and want everyone on site to take pride in their work too.”
The number of people working on site at The Coppice ranges from 40 to 100+ at any one time.
Paul, who is also an alpaca farmer in his spare time, says: “It’s a team effort and the team here work well together and it’s good for them to get the recognition of the award.”
Paul first worked for Redrow from 2003 to 2006. He re-joined the company in 2010.
“The role has changed dramatically over the years and isn’t just about building houses but building quality homes for our customers to live in,” he adds.
Pride in the Job has been highlighting excellence for over 35 years and is dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in housebuilding. Around 16,000 site managers undergo the judging process in small, medium, large and specialist housebuilder categories and this year, Redrow received a record 27 Pride in the Job awards across England and Wales.
Judging for the awards includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of sites, plus assessment across 38 areas of site management, including each manager’s technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.
With his place in the top 450 of UK site managers secured, Paul will find out this autumn whether he’s progressed to the next stage of the NHBC’s competition and won a ‘Seal of Excellence’, which would put him in the top 130 elite.
John Tutte, Redrow’s chief executive officer, added: “We’re very proud of all of our winning site managers, and that a record number have been recognised for the second year running. The fact we count 27 of the industry’s best site managers amongst our colleagues is a reflection of the high standards we uphold across Redrow.
“It’s a rigorous judging process and only the best in the business achieve the ‘Quality’ awards. The fact we continue to improve year-on-year demonstrates our commitment to continually improving the high build quality of our homes.”
It’s not just the judges who’ve been impressed by the homes Paul and his team are building – they’re also popular with buyers and the final phase of properties is now on sale. For the latest availability and pricing call 01902 471096 or see www.redrow.co.uk/coppice.
