Seventh heaven for Redrow safety team awarded gold
A prestigious third ‘gold medal’ has been awarded to housebuilder Redrow Homes, after the company chalked up seven consecutive awards for excellence in health and safety.
Redrow’s first class approach to the prevention of accidents on its building sites across the UK was recognised at this month’s RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2012. It’s the seventh year in a row that the company has achieved a gold award, and that fantastic record meant they were given the additional honour of their third gold medal.
Redrow’s group health and safety director Bob Sayers said: “The welfare of our staff continues to be our top priority. It’s very rewarding to know that our work in this field is recognised and we were delighted to receive a gold award for a seventh year. At Redrow we have nurtured an intrinsic culture of health and safety to ensure that all our staff and sub contractors, whether they are office or site based, are keep safe and well.”
David Rawlins, awards manager at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity with a 95-year history, said: “The RoSPA Awards programme provides well-deserved recognition for the winners and spurs on other organisations to raise their standards of accident and ill health prevention. We congratulate Redrow Homes on its success and encourage it, and all our other winners, to remain committed to safety and health, an approach that is well recognised to be good for workers and the bottom line.”
Dating back to 1956, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK.
