We welcomed Everyone on Boards, a community group created to empower young people through sport, to enjoy a masterclass in snowboarding as part of our £10,000 Winter Sports Fund.
The fund, which was created to celebrate our partnership with GB Snowsport, aimed to make Snowsports more accessible and inspire youngsters to nurture a passion for the sports, by creating a memorable first experience.
After applying for a share of the fund, Everyone on Boards was delighted to learn they had been successful and had also been chosen to enjoy a masterclass.
The class, which was led by Paralympic Bronze Medallist, Oliver Hill, took place at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead. Equipped with helmets, boards and Britain’s finest snowboarding athlete, the group enjoyed learning about what it takes to be an athlete and top tips for snowboarding, before heading to the slopes to enjoy the ultimate snowboarding session
Agnieszka Aga Wood, Founder of Everyone on Boards, said: “We were delighted to be chosen to enjoy a share of Redrow’s Winter Sports Fund – and to be picked to experience a masterclass with a member of the GB Snowsport’s team gave us even more reason to celebrate!
“Our vision is to inspire and encourage young people to enjoy life through activity and leading healthy lives by being active with local communities. This opportunity, created by Redrow, offered an invaluable experience for the children – many of whom had never tried snow sports before or visited a snow centre.
“The children loved meeting Oliver and putting their first-hand knowledge to the test on the slopes. On behalf of the whole team at Everyone on Boards, we would like to say a big thank you to Redrow and Oliver for giving us such a memorable experience.”
Paralympic Bronze medallist, Oliver Hill, added: “It was great to meet the children from Everyone on Boards. I wanted them all to enjoy themselves and have fun.
“All competitive sport starts from someone enjoying what they are doing and wanting to develop it and take it further. That’s the mindset I believe anyone needs to become a medal winning athlete.”
