Redrow seeks local views on Daresbury housing plan
Developer Redrow is to consult the community about proposals for new homes on land earmarked to help meet local housing needs in Daresbury.
The housebuilder will be hosting a ‘view and comment’ session at the Lewis Carroll Centre on Tuesday, November 20, when residents will have the opportunity to submit their ideas regarding plans for a new development off the A56 Chester Road.
Halton Borough Council is preparing a Local Development Framework (LDF), to replace the Local Plan, to guide development over the next 20 years. The council’s evidence demonstrates that there is growing need for more housing in Daresbury, particularly family housing that is affordable for local people.
The emerging Core Strategy allocates a site, bordered Chester Road, Daresbury Park, the Bridgewater Canal and Delph Lane, for this purpose.
Victoria Murray, head of land and planning for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “We believe that this location has great potential for a new neighbourhood, which would make a considerable contribution to meeting local housing needs and have a strong emphasis on quality family homes.
We have been working on the technical issues involved in planning a new development and have developed initial ideas. Before we progress our proposals we would value the input of the local community to contribute their views on the type of place the new development should be.
“In addition, we believe our proposed development would boost the local economy with the injection of money and jobs during construction and bring wider benefits to existing shops and facilities.”
The view and comment session takes place at the Lewis Carroll Centre, All Saints Church, Daresbury Lane on Tuesday, November 20 from 1pm to 7pm.
