Regeneration success for Redrow in North Manchester
Redrow has celebrated the latest milestone in its North Manchester regeneration project with the help of ward councillor Pat Karney.
Cllr Karney was invited to officially open Redrow’s latest development in Harpurhey, part of a regeneration programme that’s providing around 450 homes here and in neighbouring Moston.
Redrow has been working closely with Manchester City Council and, to maximise affordability, every home is offered with the potential to defer 25% of the initial purchase price for up to 10 years, interest free, through a scheme administered by the council.
Woodville Gardens is the third of six planned phases, following hot on the heels of sales success at Hanson Gardens and Kenyon Gardens in Moston.
Cllr Karney cut the ribbon to two new fully furnished show homes at Woodville Gardens during an event attended by local estate agents, solicitors and other property professionals from the area.
He said: “One of the City Council’s key goals is to provide quality accommodation and I would like to thank Redrow for helping to regenerate Harpurhey and nearby Moston by building new homes. Harpurhey has undergone a major transformation in recent years to restore it to its former glory and these new homes will further boost the neighbourhood, offering existing residents the chance to own their own home and attracting new people to the area.”
Woodville Gardens will feature 75 houses in Ashville Terrace, off Worsley Avenue. The homes are just a short distance away from Moston Lane, which features a diverse range of shops. The development is also within easy reach of North City District centre, home to a wide range of shops and a cluster of services including the North Manchester 6th Form College, North City Library, North City Family and Fitness Centre and the newly opened Factory Youth Zone.
Julie Harper, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), commented: “We’ve already sold over 70 new homes in the area and our Kenyon Gardens phase is almost sold out. The majority of customers have been first time buyers and have included local people, those from the wider Manchester area and people relocating to work in the city.
“Woodville Gardens extends our offering further and, between the three ongoing developments, there’s a good choice of two, three and four-bedroom homes available.”
Customers can defer up to a quarter of the price, which reduces the initial outlay for a two-bedroom home to just £78,746; while a four-bedroom home, available on the open market at £132,995, could be snapped up for less than £100,000.
Traditional on the outside, the homes are in keeping with those in the surrounding neighbourhood but are bright and modern inside. They meet the City Council’s ‘Design for Access 2’ standards, to ensure they are accessible at all times by those with disabilities and that all homes can be easily adapted for occupation by a disabled person.
As well as offering stylish new homes that are easy to afford, Redrow is also committed to providing employment for local people. A minimum of 10% of the workers constructing the homes live in the surrounding area and local young people continue to be employed on site as part of an apprenticeship scheme.
