Help to Buy lifts new family onto the housing ladder in Cheshire
A young North West couple are the proud owners of a luxury four-bedroom home in Cheshire after making their purchase through Help to Buy.
Nick D’Silva, 31, and his partner Corrie, who both work in financial services, decided it was time to move in together in June after both discovering they were expecting their first baby.
Looking for a place close to Corrie’s family in Liverpool, the pair decided upon Redrow’s popular Barrow’s Green venture in Widnes. With the new home ready to move into in September, the move came at the perfect time for the parents-to-be, with their new arrival due early in the New Year.
Snapping up a brand new fully-furnished home for just a £12,500 down payment, the couple took full advantage Help to Buy, which allows purchasers to buy with just a 5% deposit.
Nick said: “Help to Buy has helped us into a much bigger, better, more luxurious home – far superior to any we could have bought without it.
“This scheme has shrunk the costs of our mortgage payments and made this new family a very happy one.”
For all those who use the initiative, 20% of a home’s asking price is covered by an equity loan from the government, interest free for five years.
The remaining 75% of the property value is then covered by a mortgage available from the purchaser’s lender of choice.
Nick added: “All of the homes here at this development are available through Help to Buy and I’d really recommend them to any first time buyers in a similar situation to us.”
Right in the heart of the North West, four-bedroom homes at Barrow’s Green start at just £229,995 and offer quick links to Liverpool, Runcorn and Warrington.
Boasting en-suites and beautiful kitchens, the properties marry a traditional-look outside with contemporary 21st century interiors.
Choosing a design from Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection, the couple opted for a four-bedroom ‘Oxford’ home at Barrow’s Green.
Nick explained his choice: “Thanks to Redrow we’ve ended up with a new home with brand new contemporary features, but also a home that looks traditional with a bit of character.
“We love this house so much that we’re actually now planning a homebirth here, I think this could be a house for life.”
