Newlyweds make a fresh start in a new home in Liverpool
It was a match made in heaven for newlyweds Cathy and Steve Knott who started married life in a brand new home in South Liverpool.
The couple had fallen in love with the Redrow homes at Cressington Heath but feared they’d missed out on their dream home when the original phase sold out.
When they discovered Redrow were back building in the area, they made a date to visit the sales office.
Cathy explained: “We were getting married and wanted a new start so decided to put our four-bedroom semi up for sale so we could downsize to somewhere smaller.
“We’d looked at the homes in the earlier phase of Cressington Heath but had a house to sell so thought we’d missed out. After we had sold our old home we discovered Redrow had started building in the area again and reserved a three-bedroom Brecon off plan. We weren’t sure what it would look like so we travelled to Chorley to view a property in the same style.”
Steve, 51, and Cathy, 49, married just weeks after moving to Cressington Heath. With a wedding to organise, they appreciated the ease of living buying a brand new home offered.
“The sales consultant and the site manager were both really helpful,” Cathy said.
“Buying a brand new home meant we got exactly what we wanted. It was great to be able to choose things like the finish of the kitchen cabinets and the bathroom tiles rather than having to make do with what someone else has left behind.”
Cathy and Steve’s three-bedroom Brecon boasts a spacious lounge that spans from the front to the rear of the property, with French doors leading to the garden to bring the outside ‘in’.
Like all new Redrow homes, theirs features an open plan kitchen and dining room that’s well equipped with integrated top brand name appliances including oven, hob, microwave and fridge freezer, plus tall cabinets and extra wide drawers that offer plenty of storage space. There’s a laundry room to keep the washer and dryer out of the kitchen.
Upstairs their home boasts an en-suite to master bedroom to complement the family bathroom.
Well insulated, with double glazing and central heating included as standard, new homes like Cathy and Steve’s are 40% more efficient to run than homes built only a decade ago and 70% more economical than those built before 1990.
“I’ve noticed that the house is a lot warmer than the one we moved from and our water rates have gone down,” Cathy added.
“I’ve never lived in a new-build home before but wouldn’t go back and if I had to move I wouldn’t hesitate in buying a brand new home again.”
Current availability at Cressington Heath includes a choice of three and four-bedroom homes with prices from £179,995.
Help to Buy is available, making homeownership more affordable with the help of an equity loan for up to 20% of the purchase price. The valuable help could reduce the initial cost of setting up home to £143,996, including a 5% deposit of around £9,000.
The new homes at Cressington Heath enjoy easy access to the local amenities of Garston and the nearby New Mersey Shopping Park, at Speke, while Liverpool city centre is just a short journey away by road or rail.
The area boasts strong public transport links and is within commuting distance of the M62 and M57 motorways.
