Redrow site manager adds a Seal of Excellence to his award collection
Redrow’s David Williams, from St Helens, is officially one of the top site managers in the country after gaining another coveted industry accolade.
He’s just been awarded a Seal of Excellence by the NHBC (National House-Building Council), placing him in nationally in the top 1% of his profession.
David, who’s in charge of building new homes at Redrow’s Lancaster Place development, on Lunts Heath Road, Widnes, progressed to this higher level of the NHBC’s Pride in the Job competition after picking up a Quality Award in June.
It’s the most recent in a string of accolades David has been awarded by the NHBC over the years including being named supreme national runner up, taking the north west regional title three times and winning five previous seals of excellence.
He learned of his latest success at a glittering ceremony held at the Hilton hotel in Manchester. Judged on consistent attention to detail, the Seal of Excellence title shows that David has scored highly for the quality of his workmanship on site at every stage of the build.
Dave, who’s worked in construction for 25 years and with Redrow’s NW division for two and a half years, said: “It’s fantastic to be awarded another Seal of Excellence. I don’t see it as my award, I see it as recognition for the whole team on site. From our tradesman, site labourers and forklift truck drivers, everyone has played their part and it’s a real team effort.
“I sort of fell into the construction industry when I was about 22 but after that I fell in love with it. I think what I enjoy most is transforming a site from an empty patch of land into a new community and seeing the friendships that form on site. It’s very rewarding.”
Pride in the Job is the housebuilding industry’s most prestigious awards programme. It recognises the UK’s best site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards in every aspect of their work on site
Judging includes spot checks of the day-to-day running of the site. Each site manager is assessed across 38 areas of site management including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
The Heritage Collection homes that Dave and his team are building on the edge of Widnes are inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts movement. Externally the homes look very traditional; while inside they are highly specified and full of family-friendly features. For more information visit www.redrow.co.uk/lancaster.
