Buying a new home the modern way
After a three-year search of Greater Manchester and Cheshire to find a property that suited their needs and budget, Kellieanne and Arise Abiola found their perfect home after a chance visit to a Redrow venture in Moston.
It just so happened it was perfect timing as a special Homebuyers’ Surgery event was being held at Woodville Gardens that day, and the couple, along with their three year-old son Zach, immediately fell in love with the plans for a brand new three-bedroom home.
Redrow’s regular surgery events help visitors match their circumstances to their ideal property and provide financial advice at the same time. For the Abiolas, the Help to Buy scheme was very attractive and they signed up and reserved their ‘Brecon’ style home on that very day.
Kellianne, 29, a service manager of a care company, said: “The process was surprisingly easy, we signed all the paperwork on the day and then the rest was done via email which was the most convenient communication method for us. The solicitors were recommended by Redrow and were also happy with our email contact.
“Redrow’s staff have been brilliant from the start. Again, they adapted their communication style to suit our work, sometimes texting with updates. They are very friendly and always want to help. We currently rent a property on another of Redrow’s sites - Stamford Brook in Altrincham - so we were keen to build on that good experience.”
With their new home secured, the Abiola family have been able to sit back and watch it being built brick by brick. They’re hoping to move in by the end of March.
Their ‘Brecon’ style home boasts an open plan kitchen and dining room with French doors onto the garden and a large master bedroom with en suite.
“The house is progressing very well, we have been taking pictures of each stage and started planning the decoration of each room. Zach has started packing already! It suits us because we wanted peace of mind that everything is new. It’s also wonderful choosing all the kitchen and bathroom fittings and fixtures – it’s like a fresh start for happy times. We’re all so excited and Zach has even called one of his teddies Brecon!” Kellianne added.
Redrow has other three and four-bedroom homes at Woodville Gardens, currently priced from £149,995 to £176,995.
Inspired by the architecture of the Arts and Crafts era, the properties look very traditional from the outside. Inside, however, they are bright and modern with well equipped kitchens, stylish bathrooms and a host of energy efficient measures so that buyers should also save on their fuel bills.
What’s more, a Help to Buy equity loan can reduce the purchase price by 20%, leaving the customer needing a deposit of only 5% and then a 75% mortgage. For example, the £149,995 price of a three bedroom Tarn-style property is reduced to £119,996 including a 5% deposit of just £7,500.
The equity loan is interest free for five years and can be repaid when the customer has more funds available or comes to resell.
