Abode homes coming to Lancaster
Already available near Chester and Tamworth, Redrow is now bringing this new collection of chic and contemporary homes to Lancaster.
Riverside View, on the banks of the River Lune, is currently home to Heritage Collection homes boasting traditional Arts and Crafts inspired exteriors; a more contemporary looking range called Abode is soon to be added into the mix.
Redrow’s regional chief executive Matthew Pratt said: “Pre general election all of the major political parties agreed that it’s critical for Britain to build more homes; and the new Conservative government has promised to provide 200,000 new homes for first time buyers over the next five years.
“Redrow has already stepped up production and our Abode range gives us the opportunity to open up more sites, more quickly. Because it’s targeting a different type of customer than Heritage it means we can have two separate outlets operating simultaneously on our larger developments – like Riverside View - and meet the needs of a broader range of customers.”
In Lancaster, buyers will be able to choose from new two, three and four-bedroom Abode homes which will bring their chic styling to the city and perfectly complement the homes already on offer at Riverside View.”
The homes, which present an ‘uncluttered’ but smart façade, feature wide open living spaces – virtually all of the ground floor is open plan – and in-vogue features such as wet rooms and underfloor heating. In several housetypes there is no family bathroom, instead every bedroom has its own wet room or en-suite. Banks of discreet storage units create faux walls and optional extras include outdoor kitchens and low maintenance artificial turf.
“The Abode homes are versatile and cater for busy people who like to entertain. Young professionals and active downsizers who live a very sociable lifestyle will be equally at home,” Matthew added.
Prices will be announced when the homes go on sale on June 20 and will initially be sold from the estate agency offices of Entwistle Green, on Market Street, before a new showhome and marketing suite opens at Riverside View in September.
All of the homes will be available with the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which can reduce the initial purchase price by 20% and allow the user to put down as little as a 5% deposit.
The scheme allows home buyers to take out an equity loan, which is interest free for five years. They then only need a 75% mortgage and 5% deposit to purchase their new home and monthly mortgage repayments should be lower than expected.
Riverside View is only five minutes’ drive from the centre of historic Lancaster and the train station a mile away offers regular trains to Manchester, Preston and beyond. With a choice of primary schools and secondary schools close by the area is an excellent choice for families.
Those interested in the Heritage Collection homes, or simply keen to see where the Abode homes will be, can visit the existing showhome and marketing suite on New Quay Road, which is open from 10am until 5.30pm every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The first Abode development opened in January 2014 in Flintshire and the designs will soon be available in many more locations across England and Wales.
