Success in the North West and North Wales for £1Billion turnover Housebuilder
While Redrow’s nationwide success is a strong sign of a more buoyant UK housing market, the achievements of its divisional arm operating in the North West of England and North Wales indicates the regional market is following suit.
In the year ending June 30, Redrow’s NW division, one of 12 operating divisions in England and Wales, completed more than 350 new homes across its developments in Cheshire, Merseyside, Flintshire and Gwynedd.
The regional company purchased five new sites in Cheshire comprising a total of 38 acres which, once complete, will have a total sales value in excess of £160 million, while stimulating dozens of new jobs and bringing a host of other economic benefits to local communities. Redrow Homes (NW) also launched sales at eight locations, including two in Liverpool and six in Cheshire, while completing building work at two developments.
In the current financial year, the NW division hopes to increase the number of homes it builds by almost 50% to 520 and to launch five new developments as it continues its rapid growth.
John Grime, managing director for Redrow Homes (NW) said: “It’s been a productive year of growth for our division and we are pleased to have played our part in a record breaking year for the Group. We’ve almost doubled our number of live outlets and look forward to further expansion over the coming 12 months.
“We are continuing to look for new land to acquire, with a primary focus on desirable locations within Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Liverpool and Wirral, where we can deliver developments with 50+ homes.
“It’s set to be an exciting 12 months ahead during which we hope to launch two new developments adjacent to our existing ventures in Chester and Altrincham, as well as three in brand new Cheshire locations including Little Sutton, Sandbach and a large flagship development in Woodford. Phase one of the 950-home development on the historic site of the former Woodford Aerodrome will include 145 high quality homes in a range of sizes from two to five bedrooms.”
Redrow’s NW division is based at St David’s Park, Ewloe, Flintshire, and directly employs 179 staff, including 19 apprentices, 10 trainees and five graduate trainees, while providing work for dozens of subcontractors on its 17 building sites.
Nationally, Redrow this week reported strong growth. Turnover exceeded £1bn for the first time, operating profit increased by 54%, and the number of new homes completed rose to 4,022, a 12% increase over last year and 42% up on 2013. The company also bolstered its workforce by 22% to 1,651 employees.
