New Home Sales Take Flight at Former Woodford Aerodrome Site
The future of the former Woodford Aerodrome site was firmly on display recently as Redrow welcomed 600 potential buyers, all keen to get their first glimpse of the new homes. The award-winning house builder opened an impressive collection of seven show homes in three, four and five-bedroom designs, to launch the first phase at Woodford Garden Village, near Stockport. The development is based on the site of the historic aerodrome famed for its association with the Lancaster Bombers.
Undeterred by reports of uncertainty in the housing market following the Brexit vote a day earlier, homebuyers reserved five homes over the opening weekend, with seven more secured under Redrow’s Early Bird scheme, giving buyers priority to reserve when their chosen plot is released for sale.
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW) said: “To welcome 600 potential home buyers through our doors and secure a strong number of reservations in just two days was outstanding and is testament to the demand that exists for quality homes that are based in a first class location.
“Visitors were completely blown away by the layout and design of the seven show homes and we couldn’t have asked for more positive feedback during the opening weekend.”
While the first phase comprises 145 properties, Woodford Garden Village will eventually become a major new community with 950 new homes to be built over the next decade. Sensitive to its idyllic rural location, it will feature properties from Redrow’s sought after Heritage Collection, all set among significant amounts of green open spaces.
As part of its planning agreement with Stockport Council, Redrow has committed funds for the local community worth a total of £9.6 million, which will see the creation of a host of brand new facilities including the £3.5 million primary school, improvements to local transport provision, roads and footpaths, plus a contribution towards affordable homes.
Woodford is situated is in the middle of the larger towns and villages of Handforth, Bramhall and Poynton, each with a good selection of local amenities. It is just five miles from Stockport, and close to road and rail links to the nearby city of Manchester and the whole of the North West.
The show homes are open to view seven days a week from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information about the Woodford Garden Village development visit www.redrow.co.uk/developments/woodford-garden-village or call 0161 971 2192.
