Big Demand for Redrow's New Homes in Fazakerley
Defiant homebuyers have shown they’re happy to invest in bricks and mortar despite last week’s Brexit result.More than 1,500 visitors turned up at four brand new Redrow developments over the weekend, with queues forming from first light in one location and one customer spending the night in his car at another!
Among those developments was Redbridge Park, in Fazakerley – the latest Redrow scheme to launch within the Liverpool Housing Partnership.
Redrow Homes’ sales director Claire Jarvis said: “We’ve seen political turmoil and a degree of economic uncertainty since last week’s EU referendum result and we really didn’t know what to expect when we launched Redbridge Park over the weekend. In the event we had people queuing and sold all available properties on the first day.”
Redbridge Park will eventually feature 60 three and four-bedroom Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection homes, with sales releases being managed in phases and show homes due to open in August. The first four properties went on the market at the weekend and sold at prices from £194,995 for a three-bedroom semi to £259,995 for a four-bedroom detached. Redrow now has selected plots available for ‘early bird’ registration, which will give people priority to purchase when they are released for sale.
Sean Miley was the local man who slept in his car outside Redbridge Park, on Sherwoods Lane. It was a labour of love for the 25-year-old civil servant who was desperate to secure a home for himself and his fiancée, Charlotte, 23, who works at Liverpool John Moores University.
“My uncle owns a Redrow home so we know all about the quality. We’d also done our research and visited other Redrow developments in the city and even drove to Birmingham to see a show home there,” Sean explained.
“We knew what we wanted and didn’t want to miss out so when I finished work I drove to the development, parked up outside and stayed there all night. As it happens I didn’t need to be there quite so soon but by the time the sales office opened a queue of 40 or 50 people had built up so I was pretty glad I’d got their first.”
He said that the Brexit vote had stopped and made them think for a minute: “But no one really knows what will happen and whether we’ll be directly affected. At the end of the day we need somewhere to live and we know what’s in our price range. Life goes on!”
Sean and Charlotte have reserved a three-bedroom detached Amberley at Redbridge Park, which they hope will be ready to move into later this year or early next.
“We knew of Redrow and, living nearby, have followed this development quite closely. We’re impressed by the quality of Redrow’s homes in comparison to other companies. They have a real understanding of what customers want. In addition, the site itself is in such a well-established and sought-after area.”
The development is being built on the former site of Redbridge and Bank View high schools, both relocated, and is ideally situated for commuters and families. Fazakerley train station is around 20 minutes away on foot for trains into Liverpool Central. There are shops and amenities locally, including Kirkby Golf Course and, of course Aintree Racecourse, home of the famous Grand National. Liverpool city centre is just 20 minutes away by car and there is good access to the M57 motorway.
The successful launch of Redbridge Park comes just a couple of weeks after another young engaged couple, Jonathan Powell and Danikka Burnell, waited all night outside Redrow’s sales office at Knights Park, Woolton, to secure their first home.
“It shows that there is pent-up demand for quality new homes in all parts of the city,” said Claire Jarvis.
