Redrow spreads Christmas charity cheer in Chester
THE Huntington community braved the snow to join in the festive fun at a charity Christmas event hosted by Redrow Homes.
Redrow homeowners at Regents Grange were joined by their neighbours to raise money for the North West Air Ambulance and Macmillan Cancer Support; two causes close to the hearts of Redrow staff.
Redrow suppliers, contractors and local businesses including Sainsbury’s and Cheshire-based Superior Catering all entered into the spirit of goodwill donating seasonal goodies including mince pies and gingerbread men, plus raffle prizes.
A brass band, pop choir and local children from Saighton Primary School kept guests entertained at the event, which was officially opened by Sheriff of Chester, Cllr Jane Mercer, and her consort David Challen.
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW), said: “This is the second year we’ve held a charity Christmas event at Regents Grange. Events like this really bring the community together and that’s what makes Huntington a fantastic place to live.
“It was great to see that community spirit in action with people braving the snow to help us raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the North West Air Ambulance Charity. Both are causes that are close to home for our staff and we’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped make the event such as success. Special thanks goes to Saighton Primary School – the children were in fine voice and put on a sterling performance.”
Snowfall helped add to the festive atmosphere with children taking to sledges. Dubbed Santa Stops at Regents Grange, there was even appearance by Santa himself.
Debra Millican, fundraiser for the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “The gift of time is perhaps the only gift that our helicopters offer that Santa can’t. Between them our three helicopters make more than 2,000 missions a year, offering vital pre-hospital treatment. Being part of the Redrow event at Regents Grange helped raise funds and awareness.”
