Buy a new home now in South Ribble, the UK's 'best place to live'
For a one-off Channel 4 programme, which aired on February 21, Sarah looked at several factors, including average house prices, job opportunities, health and well-being, and everything from culture to transport and family life.
With the help of regional statistics expert Dr Alasdair Rae, she then compiled a list of the top 50 - and South Ribble, in Lancashire, came out on top.
Housing in the area was found to be within reach of most working couples; it also received a high rating for well-being, a friendly community, good schools and accessibility to nearby cities, including Manchester and Liverpool, as well as beautiful countryside on the doorstep.
Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), said: “We were watching the programme with anticipation and were delighted when South Ribble was named best in the UK. It came as no big surprise to us though as our customers at The Hedgerows frequently tell us what a great place it is to live.
“Our development of three and four-bedroom family homes is perfectly placed, within easy reach of both the popular market town of Leyland and the more extensive shopping and leisure facilities of Preston. It also enjoys excellent commuter connections with the M6 close by and easy access to the West Coast Mainline rail services.
“Best of all, The Hedgerows enjoys all of this without the hustle and bustle of living in town. It’s close to open Lancashire countryside and beauty spots including Cuerden Valley Park, between Clayton le Woods and Bamber Bridge, and Worden Park, in Leyland. There’s also a choice of good schools in the area.
“Quite simply, The Hedgerows – like South Ribble in general - offers a superb quality of life.”
Redrow currently has three-bedroom Ludlow semis available from £209,995 and three and four-bedroom detached homes from £234,995 to £321,995.
