Former joiner continues to carve career with Redrow
After qualifying as a joiner, he became part of the company in 2003, initially as an assistant site manager. Since then, his career has gone from strength to strength, with the 43-year-old from Poulton-le-Fylde climbing up the construction ladder to site manager and, then, project manager.
Now father-of-three Stuart is celebrating yet another step up after being promoted to area construction manager. It means he will oversee the running of seven Redrow construction sites across the Chorley-based Lancashire division.
“I am really proud, of course I’m proud,” admits Stuart, “and it’s nice to have the recognition. It means I must be doing my job well and I always want to be the best I can”
But it doesn’t mean the keen rugby fan will stop trying to push himself further: “I have never been one to rest on my laurels. It is my job to support the site managers and act as a liaison between them, the construction director and our head office. I will continue to do that and constantly challenge myself to do better.”
Stuart’s competitiveness and enthusiasm has seen him win countless awards with Redrow, including NHBC ‘Pride in the Job’ Seals of Excellence at two sites – Harbour Village in Fleetwood and Whitehill Meadows in Blackpool – while he was site manager. Those awards put him in the top 1% of his profession; and he also secured Redrow's first ever Highly Commended Award in the NHBC Health and Safety Awards while at Whitehill Meadows, which he followed up the year after at Harbour Village.
Although to the relief of wife, Rachael, and children Macy, 14, Zachary, five and Finley, three, he is a little more laid back at home: “I just like to spend time with the family; I enjoy watching sport, I try to stay fit, but most of all I like socialising with family and friends.”
Keith Collard, construction director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), adds: “Stuart works incredibly hard. He is organised and focused, always expecting 100% commitment from colleagues but more than happy to match them himself, which is why he earns respect. I have watched him continue to exceed and excel, always giving that bit more. His latest appointment is nothing more than he deserves and he is a real asset to Redrow.”
