Redrow Helps Local Project Get Cooking
Soup on the Go is a way of bringing people together to raise low level funding for social projects locally and thanks in part to the housebuilder’s donation of £250, the community scheme is now up and running.
The first Soup on the Go event has been held at the Hartford Cricket Pavilion. People paid for a bowl of soup, listened to several social pitches, and then voted for a winner, who then received all the takings on the door plus any tea and coffee money raised on the night. It was The Greenbank Hub that took home the cash at the launch event, receiving £578 for a vegetable garden project.
After opening its trio of Hartford developments in 2015 Redrow launched its first Hartford Community Fund and invited local groups and projects to send their requests for help with funding. Now the housebuilder is onto its second Hartford fund even more local causes are benefitting, the Soup on the Go event being one of them.
Co-founder of Soup on the Go, Sam Newey said: “Our launch event went really well, it was enjoyed by all, and we’re already planning the next one for this summer. We’re incredibly grateful to Redrow for helping us to get this project off the ground, which will in turn, help other local causes.”
Jason Newton, sales director for Redrow (NW) added: “Soup on the Go is all about helping the community and that’s the ethos of our Hartford fund so it’s great to know that the money we’ve donated has started something so beneficial, and nourishing, for the area.”
