We have confirmed that we will be contributing more than £1.7million to the Cambridgeshire community.

Redrow South Midlands this month acquired land at Cottenham Grove, a 35-acre site on Rampton Road in Cottenham. As part of its commitment to the community, it has confirmed that it will be contributing more than £1.7million towards healthcare, education and libraries, as well as the development of both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

Included in this allocation is more than £1million towards early years and primary education, £80,000 to support local healthcare services, as well as more than £30,000 for libraries in the area.

On top of this, the local community is set to benefit from £197,000 to support indoor community spaces, in addition to a further £115,000 for the development of outdoor sport facilities.

Circa £90,000 has also been allocated towards highways capital and maintenance, as well as £133,000 to support community transport.

Building has now started at the new development, which will feature 200 new two, three and four-bedroom family homes, including 80 affordable homes. The first properties are due to be available in summer 2021.

Edward Lindley, land director for our South Midlands division, said: “We are thrilled to be building much-needed homes in the Cambridgeshire area, with a range of house styles to meet varying requirements.

“Further cementing our reputation for creating thriving communities across the region, we have also committed to invest more than £1.7million, helping to ensure the sustainability of our development for those moving in, and those living in the surrounding area.

“Our homes have always proved incredibly popular in this region, with our nearby Sanderson Manor development now sold out, and we are delighted to be able to provide a new range of properties for the whole community at Cottenham Grove.”

Jonathan Stiff, Head of Rural and Development at Cheffins, says: “Acting on behalf of the landowners, Cheffins was involved from the original promotion of the site to the sale to Redrow and this has ensured that the land has reached its full development potential. Cottenham is a fast-growing village and hopefully the new Redrow scheme will help satisfy the significant need for housing in the local area.

“This sale shows confidence has returned to the strategic land market after lockdown and we are seeing strong demand for development sites in popular locations. Redrow’s investment into the region is indicative of the confidence in the Cambridgeshire residential market.”

Located in the charming village of Cottenham, and just five miles away from Cambridge, Cottenham Grove will offer the perfect balance of rural living and easy access to city amenities. With great transport links to London, which is less than a 50-minute train journey from Cambridge, and a range of conveniences in the village, including its own primary school and traditional shops, the development is set to be the perfect base for commuters and families alike.

We are currently building at King’s Meadow, in nearby Ely. To find out more, please call 01353 383244 or visit: redrow.co.uk/developments/kings-meadow-ely
