Revisiting the past - Redrow makes kind donation to war veterans
Our South Midlands division, which is currently building new homes at King’s Meadow, on Kings Avenue, has donated £12,000 to community groups across the region, including the Royal British Legion’s, City of Ely branch which has received a £1,000 donation.
Since building started at the development, and as part of our commitment to create thriving communities, we’ve launched a number of initiatives to support local residents. This includes an annual community fund, where groups can apply for funding for their projects, but also regular donations to local charities.
The donation will help support an international trip across Europe for more than twenty local war veterans to revisit famous battlefields from the two World Wars. David William Martin, Branch Chairman at City of Ely, said:“We are incredibly grateful to Redrow South Midlands for this generous donation. The money will help reduce the cost and subsidise travel and accommodation fees for the veterans as they revisit famous battlefields across Europe.”
Suzanne Irons, Sales Director for the South Midlands, said:“As members of the Ely community, we are keen to support local community groups that have a big impact on their members. The Royal British Legion is a national institution that provides care, support, and employment for veterans, retired armed forces members and people with disabilities. We are immensely proud to support with our community fund.
“We are all forever indebted to those who served in the world wars so we could live the lives we do today. We are pleased to be contributing towards this trip, which we’re sure will be a memorable and meaningful experience.”
Offering stunning views of the Fens, King’s Meadow features three to five-bedroom homes situated in a charming, rural location on the north east edge of Ely. Perfect for a growing family, the development enjoys an array of amenities in the nearby town centre, including an 800-year-old market in the centre of Ely and the Cloisters Shopping Centre.
