Former sales consultant Andrea Whitfield and her parents were the first residents to move into their new home at Lucas Gardens, on Ivel Road – just in time for Christmas.
The development, which is set to bring 90 homes to the region, unveiled its show homes earlier this year.
Prior to the pandemic, Andrea had been thinking of moving in with her parents to care for them for some time but was prompted to start her home search following the changing restrictions and numerous lockdowns which kept her apart from her parents.
Keen to purchase a property which required little repair work or upgrading, Londoner Andrea was in the market for a new build where, together with her parents, she could immediately put their own stamp on the place and make it their own.
When considering where to begin her search, Andrea was prompted to explore Bedfordshire following a friend’s recommendation who had recently moved to nearby Langford, and immediately fell in love with the area.
The trio chose the family-friendly four-bedroom Canterbury, which they describe as ideal for three adults sharing a home. She explains:“The layout of the Canterbury is perfect for our situation. I was immediately drawn to the open-plan kitchen and dining area, which are separate from the lounge and downstairs office, meaning we each have the option to choose a separate room downstairs for some alone time and privacy.
“I am so pleased that I finally decided to take the plunge and move us all in together. We’ve settled quickly, and it’s hard to believe we’ve been here for less than a couple of months – we love the development, and Shefford has provided us with a welcome change of scenery. My parents are delighted and we are looking forward to spending Christmas in our brand-new home together.”
Suzanne Irons, Sales Director for South Midlands added:“We are thrilled to welcome our first residents at Lucas Gardens, and we look forward to seeing the development grow into a thriving community.
“Due to its close proximity to major cities while offering all the perks of rural life, the development is proving to be very popular as it continues to pique the interest of buyers searching for a traditional home with a high-spec interior.
“We’d like to wish a very warm welcome to Andrea and her parents – we hope you will be very happy in your fantastic new home!”
Set in the middle of stunning Bedfordshire countryside, yet just a 40-minute train journey from nearby Arlesey to King’s Cross, Lucas Gardens is perfectly placed for commuters and growing families alike.
