Redrows Eastern division achieves new charity fundraising high
Redrow, the award winning housebuilder, raised a record breaking £54,000 for charity across its Eastern division in 2017, which has been donated to The J’s Hospice.
This is an increase of 42% on the housebuilder’s fundraising total for 2016, when £31,296 was raised, and represents a new charitable record for the region.
The funds have been raised primarily through two major Redrow events in 2017, the most significant being a charity race night in April which raised £43,000. More than 120 people attended the fundraising event at Chelmsford City Racecourse, with races sponsored by Redrow suppliers, contractors, recommended solicitors and financial advisors, who also donated raffle prizes and auction lots.
The remaining £11,000 came from a 100 mile sponsored cycle ride around Redrow’s Essex development sites, embarked on by an eight-strong Redrow team; several staff running the Chelmsford marathon in October and staff furniture sales.
The J’s Hospice, Redrow’s charity of the year for 2017, supports young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families across Essex. The unique organisation delivers skilled services and care to patients aged 16-40 with rare and complex long-term conditions in their own homes helping young adults live as independently as possible. The money raised by Redrow will help to pay for tailored specialist nursing, respite, advice and emotional care - as well as end of life care and bereavement support.
Kerry McCoubrey, Sales Director at Redrow Homes, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have built on the levels of fundraising secured by the brilliant efforts of our Redrow Eastern colleagues in 2016. The £54,000 raised across 2017 is a real testament to the time the Redrow team is willing to set aside for activities and causes outside of the day-to-day and sets a very ambitious target to beat in coming years – a challenge we are eager to rise to. The work carried out by The J’s Hospice is incredibly important and makes a huge difference to the lives of young people and their families across Essex.”
Denise Whiffin, who founded The J’s Hospice, is very grateful to Redrow for raising so much money. She said: “I went to their race night and cycling challenge and I was overwhelmed by the friendliness and generosity of the Redrow staff and their suppliers. They have raised an amazing amount which will help The J’s Hospice to truly transform the lives of the young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families that we support. Thank you so much.”
