Dream move comes true
The couple, both 34, were living in a two-bedroom property in Wendover when Michelle spotted the Weston Grove development in Weston Turville on the doorstep of the Chiltern Hills.
“I just happened to see it and we went to have a look,” explains Michelle. “I didn’t think I’d like new-build properties because I prefer houses to have character, but I loved the Heritage Collection homes at Weston Grove with their 1930s’ style – so traditional, and yet so modern inside.
“And we loved the open plan style of the kitchen, sitting and dining area so much that, as soon as we saw it, we wanted it.”
Several weeks in the house there’s no longer a box in sight and it already feels ‘like home’.
They even spent the festive season together for the first time.
“In previous years Jonathan’s spent it with his family and I spent it with mine,” says Michelle, a currency trader. “For the first time we were able to spend the day together – and we invited both our families to share it with us.”
She adds: “Family is so important to both of us, so to have this amazing space where we can all get together is brilliant. The house is lovely and it’s built to such a high standard – and all our friends and relatives who come to see it fall in love with it too. It’s perfect, it’s our dream home.
“Redrow have been brilliant too, from the service to the building – even friends who are in the building trade have been impressed by the quality, it’s so high.”
Michelle and city estate agent Jonathan have bought a four-bedroom detached Henley, which combines all the best aspects of tradition and modern living to create an ideal home for couples and growing families.
At the rear of the home is the open plan kitchen, dining and living area, complemented by the must-have utility and cloakroom. On the ground floor there is also a charming lounge and a very practical, integral double garage.
Each of the four bedrooms is a double, and both the master and second bedroom has an en-suite. There is also a luxurious family bathroom.
“It means if we do have children, the house will still be big enough and if family and friends come to visit there is plenty of room to stay,” adds Michelle, who with Jonathan was among the first to move in to Weston Grove.
“It has a great rural feel and yet we are close to the town if we want to go in, and it’s handy for Jonathan’s commute into London (it’s an hour into the city by train).”
Weston Grove has a range of three, four and five-bedroom homes priced from £377,950, including the stunning five-bedroom Sandringham from £899,950.
Its impressive accommodation includes an open plan kitchen, dining and family area, together with a cloakroom and utility; add to which a separate lounge, dining room and study. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite, including the master which also has a walk-in wardrobe.
