Redrow Homes scouts new graduate talent
Cara Thompson, 24 from Cardiff, is a recent Business Management graduate and joined Redrow Homes in October last year.
“I’ve always had an interest in property”, said Cara, “but my decision to look for a career in the house building industry came after I bought my first home last year. I found the process very stressful, and it got me thinking about what I would do to improve things if I was a part of someone else’s home buying journey.”
Cara, who finished her degree in 2013, joined Redrow through one of their graduate schemes after researching into the company and their homes.
“I decided fairly quickly that I wanted to work with Redrow Homes. They’re known for being a leader in the industry, and after visiting some of their sites before handing in my application I really felt that I would be proud to sell their product.
“I enjoy working with people, so a customer-facing role like this was ideal for me. Day-to-day my job involves providing customers with information about our site, products and processes and demonstrating show homes. I work with customers from the point where they reserve their home all the way to handing them their keys on completion day.
“The work is really varied, which I love, but it all comes back to the customer and their journey. Buying a home is one of the biggest commitments a person can make and I want to make that experience as enjoyable as possible.”
Cara has been training with Redrow Sales Negotiator, Julie Maggs who recently won Redrow Homes’ internal Sales Consultant of the Year Award.
“It’s great to know I’m learning from the best! And Julie has been fantastic to work with. I’ve learnt so much since joining the company – from how to best communicate with customers, to using our computer system to ensure things run smoothly. I have also learnt a lot about myself as a person; it’s been a real learning curve in many ways.
“Looking forward, I hope to see myself progressing to being given the opportunity to manage my own site. Redrow have given me the best possible start to my career and I’m very excited to see what the future with them will bring.”
