Site Manager Craig Thomas has been named the regional winner of the NHBC Pride in the Job Quality Award for Wales (large builder category) having been awarded the Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence. He’ll now go on to compete for the ultimate prize in house building, the Pride in the Job Supreme Awards which will be unveiled at a gala ceremony in London in January 2022.
Established by the National House Building Council (NHBC), the Pride in the Job Award celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. Pride in the Job, first launched over 40 years ago, is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry.
Judging for the Awards is rigorous, with the current competition beginning in July 2020 and each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.
As Site Manager of our Mill Meadows development in Sudbrook, Craig joined us in 2018 after working for a small local house builder. He has now been awarded the seal of excellence for three years in a row.
Site Manager Huw Thomas was also awarded the NHBC Pride in the Job Seal of Excellence Award. He has been with us since 2010 when he first joined the company as an Assistant Site Manager and is one of just seven site managers working in the construction industry in Wales to be awarded the prestigious accolade. A building studies graduate of the University of South Wales, Huw now manages our Cae St Fagans development at Plasdŵr.
Tim Sexton,Construction Director for South Wales commented: “A Pride in the Job award is the most prestigious industry accolade a site manager can achieve, and competition gets tougher each year.Exceptional site managers have never been more important and we are hugely proud of all of our site managers, particularly Craig and Huw. These awards are well-deserved and testament to their hard work and leadership skills.”
