Parc y Coleg Scoops Waste Reduction Award

12th July 2022
Redrow - Developments - Parc y Coleg - Show Home Exterior

Our Parc y Coleg site in Caerleon has won a ‘Best Practice in Waste Management’ award from our waste management partner, Ecofficiency, scoring an unprecedented 100% site assessment score.

The awards recognise outstanding performance among the 500+ housebuilding sites Ecofficiency works with throughout the UK. It is given to site teams who have “demonstrated a proactive interest in reducing waste produced on site, implement procedures to encourage segregation, invest time in educating their site teams on waste management protocols, and engage to improve waste management culture”.

Parc y Coleg is a beautiful development in the Roman town of Caerleon in Newport, on the former University of South Wales campus and location of Moordale, the school at the centre of the hit Netflix series, Sex Education.

Judges awarded our site team, led by site manager, Matthew Coyle, for their “enthusiastic attitude toward segregation” and “excellent Segregation Area upkeep” as well as their unmatched perfect site assessment score.

They said, “Parc Y Coleg Caerleon has excelled from day one and the consistent high-performing results have been achieved through the site team’s pro-active attitude.”

Site manager Matthew said, “I am passionate about controlling and minimising our site waste. Being a new site, I have set the standard very high and implemented controls so that we are being as efficient and streamlined as possible. It is our duty to supply and manage waste management systems in order to make it as easy as possible for contractors on site. Getting contractors and contract supervisors on board and believe in the importance of waste management has been a key aspect of making our systems successful.”
